We are Filmmakers because we love to tell stories. We are for Future, so we don’t become the story.
Even without superheroes - what we can create in cinema, we can also achieve in real life. Our biggest problem can also be the solution: us.
Instead of changing the climate let's change the way we work. More than 1,000 filmmakers from around the world have already joined our cause and signed our statement. You want to get involved as well? Look no further!

This voluntary commitment is not a certificate or a free pass to stop thinking about our actions.
With your signature you show your commitment and signal that the climate crises is real and important to you.
Signing can therefore only be a start. For a concrete plan to act and produce more sustainably we at Filmmakers for Future recommend seeking advice from local green consultants.

We are grateful to all signatories who support this ideal and strive to improve their environmental impact. Because whether in front of or behind the camera, team cinema or couch, popcorn sweet or salty: We must unite and act together! Let's change before the climate changes in even more threatening ways.

If you enjoy telling stories, join in on the biggest one:

Us against the climate crisis.

Press Release on the Global Climate Strike

20 September 2021 in Press Releases

We, Filmmakers for Future, endorse the 10-point call for intersectional climate justice by Fridays for Future and will strike alongside them on 24th September 2021.

We demand the governments of the world to stop ignoring the predictions of the scientific community and to ambitiously protect the future generations of humankind through concrete socially just and inclusive measures!

We call on all film funding agencies, producers, policy and decision-makers, film crews, actresses and actors to strictly adhere to sustainable production practices, to issue and adopt their own policies based on the latest scientific research and publications - such as the third leaked IPPC report - and to use and distribute financial resources specifically for projects that are in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement and limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

About the series

Green shooting? Exactly what is that? We've all heard of it, but few of us have actually tried it.
Filmmakers for Future invites professionals with experience in various trades to tell us first-hand exactly how "green filmmaking" works in their field. In conversations that you can follow from the comfort of your couch, knowledge will be made accessible. Of course you can also ask questions!

Green filmmaking is a challenge we all face, but above all it is an opportunity to take change into our own hands.
With this series of talks, we want to show you what can be done and encourage you to take your learnings with you into your everyday working life.

Language

This first season of talks (including this one) will be held in German. However, future ones in English are expected to follow.
